SUNDAY – I had a quick scout around and said hello to my key brands who exhibit: Darling, Almost Famous, Me and Thee and Nour. I’m really excited about their new collections, all British brands with an eye for detail, texture and embellishment.
At lunchtime I took part in a panel on the Spirit Catwalk, it was so lovely to meet other indie retailers and have a good chat about performing brands and any key areas of focus. It was also great to chat to Catherine at Zalando about our website and upcoming changes to our site. Maintaining the high level of customer service we provide in our boutique and continuing that voice online too. Because trying pieces on, having the option of style advice from our team and the general Women’s Society experience is very important, just as important as the products – we want to combine the two experiences.
Pure has been redesigned this year, showing men’s products as well women’s, there is also a new layout to the show. Last year the organisers invited me to input ideas and recommend changes as part of a panel, I feel these changes have created a better show this time around, a much more intimate setting with an improved flow.
Monday – back again to catch up with brands I didn’t manage to see on Sunday including Sylvian Heach and Ichi. I will visit the other brands and their showrooms directly because this enables me to focus on the product and really nail my buys for the season. I view each collection with my customers in mind and elements of my buys are tailored for selected clients, so I need to plan really well. Pure London is a great way to get an overview, I can then digest everything and pinpoint what is right for The Women’s Society.
I’ve seen lots of fabulous, unique brands at Pure London with stand-out collections and really key pieces I know will speak to my customers. I’m planning a real focus on British brands and I can’t wait to showcase these in September which is our 10 year anniversary! There are lots of exciting events planned for next year so keep checking in for the latest news…
