Personal Styling With Claudia Marcellis

On Friday we had the pleasure of hosting a personal styling day with Claudia Marcellis. It was a wonderful day so we wanted to share the special event with you and tell you a bit more about Claudia, her background and how she can help you with your wardrobe and styling…

Claudia Marcellis is Dutch but now lives in the UK with her family. She has worked in fashion for many years including The Women’s Society boutique, so she has an excellent knowledge of the industry and our customers. Claudia started her own business at the beginning of this year offering a personal styling service. The initial consultation is free of charge, after that Claudia can work on a wardrobe detox and personal shopping with or for the client. Have a look at Claudia’s website for more information and how to contact her. We are working with Claudia and you can book in for a personal shopping session by calling us on 01992 500122, there is a £25 booking fee which is redeemable towards and purchases in the boutique. You can book a session Monday to Thursday 10am – 12am or 1pm – 3pm.

We wanted Claudia to share her experience from Friday’s personal styling day so we invited her to tell you all about it…

Friday was a stormy morning right after a heatwave so the first thing that springs to mind is “what to wear?”, I kept it simple because you can’t go wrong with simple, uncomplicated styling. By keeping an outfit simple you can add jewellery for an extra edge, which is what I did with some pieces from Edblad. I wore flat sandals to walk to The Women’s Society and threw some heels in my bag. My first client of the day was interested in a wardrobe detox, so we discussed her lifestyle to establish how I could help her and booked an appointment. For the rest of the day clients tried on pieces from the boutique which allowed me to give advice on individual body shape and how to make the most of the frames. We had lots of fun and laughs which is so important because fashion should be enjoyable, you should be a happy experience. Before I knew it 3 o’clock had arrived and the session was over, the weather had calmed and the sun had come out. A wonderful end to a lovely day at The Women’s Society.”

“While I was in the boutique I couldn’t resist a little perusal through the new season collections and found some key pieces I had to talk about. The pink silk blouse by Hoss is just stunning, perfect for day and night and ideal teamed with jeans or a leather pencil skirt. I also spotted a Barbour jacket I loved, such a classic piece. Even if you already own one I recommend a visit to the boutique to have a look through the new collection, the cuts are flattering and feminine, real must have pieces.

This knitted dress also by Intropia was another stand out piece, the length makes the dress easy to wear all year round with ankle boots, high heels, bare legs or thick tights. Add a nice piece of jewellery to give the look something extra, bold or delicate depending on your style and mood.”

Thank you to Claudia Marcellis for this week’s blog post.
