I dread Wednesday afternoons. As much as I love supporting my daughter in her sports matches, every week I spend the afternoon shivering on the side of a hockey pitch or netball court, cocooned in all my cold weather gear and trying desperately to keep myself warm. Last winter I felt so grey the whole time – black down filled coat, grey country boots, grey scarf, grey beanie, black gloves… so when Miss Pom Pom arrived in my local town’s boutique The Womens Society I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the colourful graphic scarves, hats and mittens, decorated with delicious pom poms in all sorts of bright and cheerful colours.
I mean look at it, if unicorns made stylish knitwear, this is it!
From the team behind sustainable fashion brand Lowie, Miss Pom Pom is London born and bred. I love their focus on sustainability and traceability which are increasingly important to conscientious shoppers.
The products are well priced too – hats start at £20 and scarves at £42. Great for Xmas gifts…. or self gifting (but get them now as Victoria tells me they flew out the door last year)!
ALL MISS POMPOM KNITWEAR IS MADE FROM ITALIAN YARNS IN A SMALL FACTORY IN ISTANBUL, TURKEY AND SOLD IN CAREFULLY SELECTED BOUTIQUES THROUGHOUT THE UK AND EUROPE.
SUSTAINABILITY AND TRACEABILITY ISSUES ARE IMPORTANT TO MISS POMPOM. WE ENDEAVOUR TO BE AS TRANSPARENT AS POSSIBLE ABOUT OUR RAW MATERIALS AND PROCESSES.
THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE DESIGNS IS THE GRAPHIC ARTS – THE FOUNDERS’ FAVOURITE ARTIST BEING CAMILE WALALA. ALSO THE MEMPHIS ART MOVEMENT, AND RECENTLY THE ANNIE ALBERS EXHIBITION AT TATE MODERN.
I can attest that the knitwear is super warm – it traps the air and keeps you cosy, perfect for those long, cold afternoons on the sideline! The only tricky thing about Miss Pom Pom is which of the designs to choose…. they’re all so lovely.
Get your Miss Pom Pom from The Womens Society Boutique this season.
